Windows 7 doesn't "see" networked computer
I am having a similar problem. I am trying to find SMB shares with a
Mac and a UNIX file server running Samba and NFS, but neither the Mac nor UNIX
computers nor the shares come up in the Network pane, though the 7
machine sees itself and the router. Internet, etc... works fine.
Discovery is on; I have tried using the home network with and without
the homegroup feature on (it was on by default, so I tried turning it off). I
have tried the "Work" network settings. I have disabled all the firewalls on
the machine. I have edited the security policy to work with lower
security shares (ie <NTLMv2). I have tried mounting via the run command from the IP address and I get an error. This works fine in XP and Vista. Am I missing something obvious or is there a feature
I need to know about? Thanks!

Have the same issue. Windows 7 shared drives(or even the computer name) cannot be seen from a Vista machine, SBS 2003 server, or WHS. The Windows 7 machine can see Vista shares but not access them. Accesses SBS shares fine. I cannot even open the Windows 7 shared drives from the computer I'm sharing from.
